Stress & Trauma

Stress is a familiar experience for us all.  Whether we call it nerves, tension, frustration, worry, strain or pressure, we all know what it feels like. The Penguin Medical Encyclopedia sees stress as “any influence which disturbs the natural equilibrium of the body”.  Another definition of stress is a “constraining or impelling force”.

Trauma is a more severe form of stress and can occur as a single event or as a series of experiences. Unresolved traumatic experiences may lead to a variety of clinical symptoms.

At first, there can be sensitivity, flashbacks, hesitation, nervousness, mistrust, mood swings or panic attacks.
Later as the body arranges in relationship to the presence of trauma, further symptoms can develop: digestive disturbances, headaches, jaw tension, chronic fatigue, asthma, urinary problems and back pain.

The Amygdala, Pituitary gland, Hippocampus and brain stem (Autonomic Nervous System) are primary regulators to handle the effects of  stress and/or trauma.

Craniosacral Biodynamic Therapy is effective for discharging and resetting of the brain’s ability to handle stress and/or trauma. There are many new developments in protocols based on current research and findings of the Central Nervous System.
